Our rather unfriendly neighborhood Minotaur is not an easy solo fight. While there are plenty of legendary champions who can manage, here is a list of accessible champions for starters or free-to-players (or both, even!)

Shieldguard

Shieldguard is a common champion that can be farmed in Chapter 8, The Deadlands. He also appears fairly regularly in my marketplace, so keep an eye out for that, even though that could just be RNG.

You would do well to farm him enough that you can upgrade his skills mostly by feeding him duplicates to save on books, since he needs 11 skill-ups total, and using books on a common, farmable champion is not recommended.

What Makes him so good?

Only few Uncommon champions are exceptional. Shielguard is Defense-based, which makes him tankier than most. Both of his active skills can affect the turn meter (his, or his target’s), and his passive skill that removes one debuff each turn is god-like.

Gear

Lifesteal set is non-optional, as it will keep your Shieldguard alive.

It’s difficult to get 5-6 star equipment early-on, but if you can, you want him to rock 6-star gear (rarity is less important than rank).

The optimal base stat on your gear: Crit Rate Gloves, Defense% Chestpiece, and Speed Boots.

Alternatively, you may be able to stack DEF% if you can’t get your hands on C.RATE/SPD gear, but it will require a lot of C.RATE and SPD substats for it to be viable. His second active skill, Battle Stance, will only fill his turn-meter if he deals a critical hit.

PSA: Unless you can 6-star your Shieldguard, he will do poorly in Minotaur 15. The last Mastery, which unlocks at 6 stars rank only, will make or break your Shieldguard build in this dungeon.

Jizoh

Jizoh, on the other hand, is an Epic champion you will get after playing for 14 days. While he is not farmable, and his skills require Epic-grade books to level, he certainly has the potential to be a good Minotaur farmer.

Also a Defense-based champion (see a pattern here? Being Defense-based is honestly an insane advantage for any champion, although it can’t redeem a champion in itself), Jizoh may not control the Turn-Meter, but he doesn’t need to.

His Counter-Attacking and Self-Healing combination of skills is what makes him a good Minotaur 15 candidate. His self-heal skill comes with a provoke debuff chance, which will ensure more hits come to him (triggering a counter-attack) rather than your other champion.

His Default skill hits twice, which makes his counter-attacks even deadlier!

Gear

Unlike Shieldguard, a Lifesteal set -may- not be necessary, as Jizoh has a solid heal buff. Of course, aiming for 6-star gear is still best.

The optimal base stat on your gear: Crit Rate Gloves, Defense% Chestpiece, and Speed Boots.

Stacking DEF% may be easier on Jizoh. He will still need a lot of C.RATE and SPD substats to make up for it, but none of his abilities rely on C.Rate, at least. C.Rate is just always good to have!

Executioner

A mix of Defense-based, counter-attacks, and turn-meter manipulation makes an Executioner! You can get one from Chapter 11, Hallowed Halls. While he is farmable, he can be pretty elusive.

This champion comes with the added bonus of having a useful Aura: +17% DEF in all battles.

MORE DEFENSE, YAY!

Gear

Your Executioner will need a Lifesteal Set, as he has no self-healing. 6-star gear is best.

Base Stats: the usual Crit Rate Gloves, DEF% Chestpiece, and Speed Boots.

He does not -require- Crit Rate, as none of his skills play on it, but it’s still the most useful stat there. You might get away with DEF% Gloves, but it may be difficult to go without SPD boots. As usual, if your base stat differs from above, I recommend focusing on C.Rate/SPD substats to make up for it!

Other Champions

There are many champions that can solo Minotaur, but the chances of actually having one of these champs, which are mostly Epics and Legendaries, is slim.

A notable mention is Scyl of the Drakes, which is a log-in bonus. It will take you half a year to get her, but still, it counts as a certainty!

Scyl of the Drakes is obviously a very, very good option, what with being a Legendary champion. She offers a lot in terms of survivability (being – you guessed it- ANOTHER DEFENSE-BASED CHAMP!) and healing, as well as Turn-Meter manipulation.

In her case, a Relentless set would be best. She’s got a lot of skills to use! If you don’t have one, a Retaliation set (chance to counterattack) could be a good substitute, considering that her default skill is very good.

Please note, the Relentless Set is non-farmable, but you will get a set from day 8-13 login bonus, and while I can’t place it, I know there’s another, better Relentless set somewhere else in the game that you can earn easily enough.
