Everybody’s hyped up for the Slayer class! And with reason: it brings back a beloved weapon from PSO2 Classic, the Gunblade. We are only a few days away from the Slayer update (April 11th) and here’s a bit of info you’re gonna want to know.

Written on April 07th, this is article is before the actual launch of the Slayer class but after the introduction of Gunblades in the loot table and trader shop. The article will be updated as more information comes in, or on the 11th once the concrete information is acquired.

Starting at level 1? Don’t go to the Personal Shop.

While I personally don’t plan on playing Slayer until I’ve leveled it up passively a bit, you might want to. My only piece of advice is not to buy a Primm Gunblade from the Personal Shop, which is currently priced pretty high, considering that the forgotten Item Shop Staff NPC sells them for 1000 N-Meseta.

Gunblade vs Existing weapon series

You will be able to get Gunblades for almost any of the existing series, from Primm to Gunblaze. Gunblaze Gunblade? Sounds a little redundant, but we don’t get to pick.

It seems that they skipped the Trois de/Theseus sets for Gunblades, however, and you won’t find any element-attuned Gunblades at lower levels either.

Weapon Potentials

Gunblades will have all the same potential of the series they’re in.

The mixed-potential series:

As you may remember from my article PSO2:NGS – What They Didn’t Tell You About Weapon Potentials, there are currently three weapon series that can mix and match potentials. That creates some pretty insane possibilities, so I wanted to check out where the Gunblades ended up here.

The Rokz sixiemes gunblade will be part of the Rokz Series with the Desperation Unit Potential. It will join the Wired Lance, Twin Daggers, Twin Machine Guns, Rods, and Jet Boots.

Relic Axeon will be a Relik series (notice that, for the Gunblade, Relic is written with a “c” instead of a “k”) and will sport the Harmonious Unit, which it shares with all the other ranged (blue icon) weapon types.

The Rugged Gunblade will fall into the Pursuit Unit Potential category, sharing it with Wired Lance, Dual Saber, Soaring Blades, Twin Machine Guns, and Talises.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Mixed-Potential Series, make sure to head over to my Mixed-Potential Guide for more info and visual groups of which weapons go where. Mixing and matching these potentials can make for very interesting outcomes, and while the Rokz and Relik series have lower max damage, they can still be useful situationally.

Gunblade stats

Your new Gunblade will follow Ranged stats, so you’ll need some Precision-type augments. Expect these augments to go up in price, as many people will want those too! It may be a good idea to get them now – or if you’re more about making money, save up your Precision-type augments for the Slayer launch next week.

Gunblade Weapon Camos

Many weapon almatis no longer exclude Gunblades in PSO2:NGS, but if you find yourself running out of cool looking weapon camos, you will find more Gunblade camos in PSO2 Classic, either at the Personal Shop (warning, prices are inflated) or in the Shopping Plaza, where you can exchange some camos for Photon Boosters.

Gunblades are also usable by any class in PSO2, so you can go in and equip a Gunblade to see how the almatis and weapon camos will look like before buying them. You could see it without equipping one, but if you have a different weapon equipped, weapon almatis will show you that weapon instead.

just look for the NPC “Photon Drop Swapper Tifris” at the leftmost of the trade counter on the 2nd floor of the Shopping Plaza!

Leveling your Slayer

It’s a bit of a no-brainer to go into Neusen Plant with your Slayer class as a sub-class and rake in the XP. Make sure to use your XP boosters if you have any, and don’t forget to take some breaks! Think of your poor, poor carpal tunnels!

You can boost your Slayer levels starting at lvl 63 by using it as a main class in Neusen Plant, which will make the last couple of levels a breeze, as well as let you figure out what the f– you’re doing!

I predict a very high chance of seeing Slayers literally everywhere for the foreseeable future… myself included.

Go forth and kick some butt!
